Is it the end, or only the beginning?!?

I thoroughly enjoyed doing twetny-three things! I learned a ton throughout the semester. Starting with blogging in general. Before this class, I never even thought about having a blog or how it could benefit me. Now I know that as a future teacher I can look at other teachers blogs, or stay connected with my former classmates and see how everything is coming along! Learning about all of the RSS feeds, WIKI, and so mucg more. I will be using some of these activities in the future as fun ways the students can work more together and get to know each other. It can also be a way for the parents to keep up with the classroom.

Where do I go from here? I have already shown friends and family my blog. I am sure I will show students in the future to help them see some of the activities we may be doing. I am going to hopefully continue to have enough time every day to still read all of my RSS feeds, and the blogs that interest me. It is difficult competing in a world of social network like Facebook and Twitter, but I plan to still use blogs. It is a fun way to stay active with Web 2.0.

Really glad I participated in this throughout the class and kept up as we went along! Yay we are done!

Thing 19

Teacher Pop was very interesting. It is a way where teachers can all communicate and keep up with one another. It is similar to facebook in the way that you can comment, add videos and pictures, and you have friends. I would have never thought about a social network like this. I added a discussion, and a photo to the profile. The photo I added was of me and Cortland Finnegan, Tennessee Titans Corner Back. I added this photo because if anyone knows me they know I absolutely LOVE him!

Other social networks that interst me are Facebook, Twitter, and if I ever have enough time I would love to create a Pinterst. I hear it is very addicting, and cute. I love being creative, and that is what it is all about. Other than that, I am way to busy with school, work, and my social life to join many more social networks. Not saying there are no good ones out there, I just have not looked. Hopefully when life slows down, I will be able to devote more time to sites like Teacher Pop.

Thing 23

Creative Commons is something students will need to learn. They need to know that copyright is illegal, it is the same as STEALING. As a future middle school teacher, it will be important for me to start telling the students these things. They will be using ipods, phones, computers and need to know not to illegally download things. Also students of that age will be starting to prepare to right papers. Anything used by someone else needs to be references, or they could get in major trouble. You could do a whole lesson as a teacher on Creative Commons. Every child needs to learn it as soon as possible. Always refer to who and where you recieved information from! The video we watched at the beginning of this assignment was cute and could be shown!

Thing 22

The titles of my three binders are, Multiple Intelligences, Math is FUN, and Tennessee Colleges. I chose to post Math is FUN because this is what I am wanting to teach.

A teacher could use a Live Binder in the classroom, and make it public where only the class could see it. They could share information they find about the topic, or learn new things about the topic. Teachers could also use it for their classrooms to keep everything organized, and it is an easy to get to website where you can recieve all of your files saved.

Thing 21

Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto.

I had a lot of fun with Animoto! It took a while to get all of my ten pictures because some of them would not download, but other than that I loved it! It is a fun slideshow of a few of my family and friends. This can be used in the future for any special occasion! Glad I made an account, and tried it out. The songs would not let me preview, so I just chose one. Other than that I had a blast!

Thing 20

I love youtube. It is a website I am on daily. I love watching funny videos, or sometimes just listening to music while I am studying. I chose the video for School of Rock, Jack Black singing the Math Song. I find it funny and interesting. The movie is great, and this song helps keep the students involved. They are the age of students I would like to teach. Everyone wishes school could always be that way! I am not sure if this would be safe to put on all students computers in schools. Anything now days can be found on youtube. It is a site where people post everything. It can be monitored, but there are ways around everything. Although as a teacher, showing some videos could be necessary at times.

Thing 18

I use twitter and facebook daily. Actually more than daily, way to much in one day! I love using social networks. I have had a facebook for about 4 years and a twitter for almost 1, before those were myspace. I follow famous people, friends, family, and sisters on my twitter. My facebook has more friends from highschool and my past. I use them both as much as I possibly can, and since I have an iphone it makes it a lot easier. These are the most common social networks today. It is very important with what you put on them for other people to see because it is very easy to find someone and see what they are saying. I can not see myself using facebook or twitter inside the classroom becuase it can cause problems with students or parents. It also tends to cause bullying, which is not what you want inside of your classroom. I will use facebook and twitter to keep in touch with my fellow teachers, and other friends from highschool and college. It is a great way to keep in touch.
