I thoroughly enjoyed doing twetny-three things! I learned a ton throughout the semester. Starting with blogging in general. Before this class, I never even thought about having a blog or how it could benefit me. Now I know that as a future teacher I can look at other teachers blogs, or stay connected with my former classmates and see how everything is coming along! Learning about all of the RSS feeds, WIKI, and so mucg more. I will be using some of these activities in the future as fun ways the students can work more together and get to know each other. It can also be a way for the parents to keep up with the classroom.
Where do I go from here? I have already shown friends and family my blog. I am sure I will show students in the future to help them see some of the activities we may be doing. I am going to hopefully continue to have enough time every day to still read all of my RSS feeds, and the blogs that interest me. It is difficult competing in a world of social network like Facebook and Twitter, but I plan to still use blogs. It is a fun way to stay active with Web 2.0.
Really glad I participated in this throughout the class and kept up as we went along! Yay we are done!

Thing 19
Teacher Pop was very interesting. It is a way where teachers can all communicate and keep up with one another. It is similar to facebook in the way that you can comment, add videos and pictures, and you have friends. I would have never thought about a social network like this. I added a discussion, and a photo to the profile. The photo I added was of me and Cortland Finnegan, Tennessee Titans Corner Back. I added this photo because if anyone knows me they know I absolutely LOVE him!
Other social networks that interst me are Facebook, Twitter, and if I ever have enough time I would love to create a Pinterst. I hear it is very addicting, and cute. I love being creative, and that is what it is all about. Other than that, I am way to busy with school, work, and my social life to join many more social networks. Not saying there are no good ones out there, I just have not looked. Hopefully when life slows down, I will be able to devote more time to sites like Teacher Pop.

Thing 23
Creative Commons is something students will need to learn. They need to know that copyright is illegal, it is the same as STEALING. As a future middle school teacher, it will be important for me to start telling the students these things. They will be using ipods, phones, computers and need to know not to illegally download things. Also students of that age will be starting to prepare to right papers. Anything used by someone else needs to be references, or they could get in major trouble. You could do a whole lesson as a teacher on Creative Commons. Every child needs to learn it as soon as possible. Always refer to who and where you recieved information from! The video we watched at the beginning of this assignment was cute and could be shown!
Thing 22
The titles of my three binders are, Multiple Intelligences, Math is FUN, and Tennessee Colleges. I chose to post Math is FUN because this is what I am wanting to teach.
A teacher could use a Live Binder in the classroom, and make it public where only the class could see it. They could share information they find about the topic, or learn new things about the topic. Teachers could also use it for their classrooms to keep everything organized, and it is an easy to get to website where you can recieve all of your files saved.

Thing 21
Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto.
I had a lot of fun with Animoto! It took a while to get all of my ten pictures because some of them would not download, but other than that I loved it! It is a fun slideshow of a few of my family and friends. This can be used in the future for any special occasion! Glad I made an account, and tried it out. The songs would not let me preview, so I just chose one. Other than that I had a blast!
Thing 20
I love youtube. It is a website I am on daily. I love watching funny videos, or sometimes just listening to music while I am studying. I chose the video for School of Rock, Jack Black singing the Math Song. I find it funny and interesting. The movie is great, and this song helps keep the students involved. They are the age of students I would like to teach. Everyone wishes school could always be that way! I am not sure if this would be safe to put on all students computers in schools. Anything now days can be found on youtube. It is a site where people post everything. It can be monitored, but there are ways around everything. Although as a teacher, showing some videos could be necessary at times.

Thing 18
I use twitter and facebook daily. Actually more than daily, way to much in one day! I love using social networks. I have had a facebook for about 4 years and a twitter for almost 1, before those were myspace. I follow famous people, friends, family, and sisters on my twitter. My facebook has more friends from highschool and my past. I use them both as much as I possibly can, and since I have an iphone it makes it a lot easier. These are the most common social networks today. It is very important with what you put on them for other people to see because it is very easy to find someone and see what they are saying. I can not see myself using facebook or twitter inside the classroom becuase it can cause problems with students or parents. It also tends to cause bullying, which is not what you want inside of your classroom. I will use facebook and twitter to keep in touch with my fellow teachers, and other friends from highschool and college. It is a great way to keep in touch.

Thing 17
I joined Delicious, after I viewed and explored some other bookmark sites given. While I typed in educational technology, I could not figure out how to use the program or look at comments. Bookmarking and tagging is an important thing in technology today. Social bookmarking is becoming more popular from day to day. Pintrest is a very common social bookmarking sight. Facbook and other social networks use tagging. In the classroom, students could bookmark there favorite things for a project, or just as a simple fun activity. It is also a good way for teachers to stay in touch and see what each others interests are. There are great ideas you can get from one another by bookmarking something you like. Fellow classmates that will be moving away after college you Pinterst, and that is a way I can keep in touch with their classroom, students, and love life. Social bookmarking will be the most popular thing in just a few years.
Thing 16
I did not create a new google home page because I already have one. I use google for everything. My start page is the beach because I love the ocean! I wished Tennessee had one! My calendar is also done through my google account. It lets me know when I have something to do, it notifies me daily! Online calendars can be useful to me because I am always forgetting something, therefore everytime I am on my computer or email Google will send me a notification. To-do-lists are much needed, as a college student with a job in a sorority I am constantly busy. My life is always on the go, so to do lists are useful in every day for me. I would probably not use this in the classroom for my students, as they will be recommended to have an organizer to keep important due dates in. They can decorate it and make their own calendar if they wish.
Thing 15
A wiki is a great tool for students to use in a project, or a get to know you game. The children could change each others thoughts or add on what they think or feel. I uploaded my avatar in the Wiki just because I would not mind if anyone changed it or messed with it. This would be great to use in an English class to get your students to create a poem, or story. They students could keep the story or poem going.

Thing 14
This was my mind map I created! I went to bubbl.us and just created a random map. I also visited Gliffy for the flowcharts. Gliffy had many different types of documents that one could use to create something. There are floor plans, venn diagrams, and so much more! I would use Gliffy in the classroom in order to make certain examples to show the students. The mind map is something a student could use to create a main idea and essay topics for English. It would be a great way for students to use technology and learn at the same time! I posted my mind map, I just wanted to show classmates what and how I constructed it. Although I showed my mind map, the Gliffy flow chart was easier to use and it showed step by step how to do things! Great web tools for teachers and students.

Thing 13
Zoho Writer was interesting and fun. It has many options like word but a few more! I used waterworks to insert my name, I added an image to the top left corner and wrote a little text to the right of it! Then I went to Google Docs. I made a similar drawing to the one I created in Zoho Writer. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1BMuOQPqPITc648Vof7G01M5yP82O0NcV8oGav7iTsRg/edit?hl=en_US. This is the link to my Google Doc. The only thing I did not like about the drawing tool is that it was not like a paint brush. You could only use like lines, or swirls. I added a heart, and arrow pointing left, and an equal sign to show that I love Cortland Finnegan and the equal sign has a text box under it describing it. Students could use Google Doc to make a table, a collection of data, and draw their own images. If students work together in groups they could document their ideas and things inside of Google Doc and make a final presentation of it. I would actually prefer Paint or Word just because I am more familiar with them, but these tools were fun to try and explore. I like them both about the same, just on Zoho Writer it had a few more features you could use like Word.

I want to get Alerts about Math so I sat it up to get alerts once a week on blogs about Math.
Ik hou van Shawn is I love Shawn in Dutch! http://translate.google.com/#
These two were the ones I liked! I think these could be used in a classroom by having the students sign up for things they want to be notified of once a week, or daily! The translator could be used for multiple things! They could translate their name to any foreign language, and try to speak it. It is useful! The calendar is something that my dad sat up for me as soon as he created my google account. It has a few things in it, but it had more when I was a senior with my volleyball schedule and everything. The children could use that as ways to keep up for when their assignments are due. What it boils down to is I LOVE GOOGLE!

The easiest method to find feeds would be Google! I love Google, I use it for everything! If I am trying to find something interesting to me and a blog at the same time I would type things like "Cortland Finnegan Blogs" or something. The rest of them were more confusing. I could not find anything. I went to my recommended items on my Google Reader and it gave me things I am not interested in whatsoever! Such things like Snakes, and Ranches.
My favorite way to find feeds would be Bing, and Google! The easier they are the more I like them!

Thing 10
RSS was very interesting, I have had a GMail Account for a while, because my dad would rather communicate through that than with my APSU email. So at least for two years now. He made our whole family one so it was to my advantage. Somehow I was already subscribed to Google Reader from the comments I put on other classmates blog posts. I subscribed to five more that I feel will interest me and I can keep up with fun exciting things! I think you could use this in your school or personal life, just like you could your blog. By your students following you through Google Reader, they can keep up with assignments and fun facts. It will help the students stay organized. By using it in your personal life, you could keep up with blogs about your favorite interests, or things you like to read up on alot. There is a blog for anything now days! Teachers could use the RSS to take advantage in their classroom like I have previously stated. If the classmates and parents subscribe to the teachers blog or even other students if they wanted, they could catch up on assignments if they missed or have forgotten. They can also ask other students questions or even me. If you are able to view it daily, and show you the updates, it will allow the teacher to know what questions and problems students are having within their at home assignments. It was very interesting how the video made it out like a Video store compared to Netflix, that breaks things down into students perspectives. It will let them know they can do most of it from home!
Thing 9
I thought the image chef was useful, say if a child was running for an office, or just wanted to make a cute banner for their favorite team! I went to create banner, and customized it myself! Check for vote, and my name, and a smiley face becasuse I am a happy person!
http://www.imagechef.com/
I chose this one by clicking on the Happy Face Generator. I chose the blonde, because yes I am a blonde. I want to be a teacher so I wrote that. And I love math so I also included that into my sign. I chose this because it was fun and happy, and a cute way for students to interact with one another about their moods or interests. I chose Disney writing because Disney movies are my favorite.

Thing 8
I chose the Spell with Flickr because I thought it would be handy. I spelled Shawn becuase he is my boyfriend and I love him to pieces! He means alot to me, so I just wanted to do something cute! In my future classroom I could use this by having my students Spell their names, and draw them as just a fun rainy day activity. I thought it was neat that everytime you clicked on the letter it would change it. This Flickr thing is getting better and better the more you know how to use it correctly.
Here is just one more, becasue this is what I am wanting to teach!

Thing 7
Flickr was difficult for me to use. It took me forever to realize how to get my image into my blog! Thank you Mrs. Wall for your help! I got this picture off of Claire Albert's Flickr and I used it because it was so precious. I love kittens and snow cones, so it fit me perfectly! I would prefer to use Photobucket instead, just because I am familiar with it due to having a Myspace for a while. Maybe once I am familiar with Flickr, my students could use it to find a picture that shows their personality! It would be a great way to learn the children's interests. Now that I know how to semi use Flickr, hopefully I can teach my students how to use it as well! http://www.flickr.com/photos/38924519@N03/3577930878/in/photostream

Thing 6
I enjoy alot of the award winning Web 2.0 sites. Some of my favorite that could be used in schools and or librarys would be any google, youtube, and pandora. This could allow the students to research, watch videos, and listen to music (with headphones). Although with younger and more immature students you will have to put a block on certain things throughout google and youtube. One of my personal favorites to use at home is PayPal. I use paypal by getting your purchases off of the internet, which I do alot. Shopping online is an addiction and I will continue to use PayPal to to pay for them!
www.paypal.com, www.youtube.com, www.google.com, www.pandora.com
www.paypal.com, www.youtube.com, www.google.com, www.pandora.com
Thing 5
After reading these articles, and watching the videos I realize how often I use the internet. My Iphone helps me alot throughout the day, with all of my apps, face time, internet, and so much more I can get on Facebook, Twitter, Skype, see the news and weather, talk to my friends, check my Diigo and so much more! I love technology. School 2.0 makes me think that everything in the classroom is going to start being done on computers, Ipads, and laptops. Nothing will be pencil and paper anymore and students will be alot more happy. Students already mainly talk about their lives through social networks! Within the next few years students will be able to acces all of their homework, quizzes, in class problems, report cards, and so much more through the internet. Students use 2.0 just as much as we do, depending on the age, but they communicate with their friends classmates and piers, and it will continue to rise as more social networks are formed!
Thing 4
Commenting on other blogs gives a sense of community becasue it lets you know others are actually interested in your blogs. If you have similarities you could comment and let the other know and so forth. Blogs can help you with many things such as: catching up with friends, finding recipes, finding different fun quotes! Commenting on a blog seems just as easy as commenting on things like Facebook and Twitter.
I commented on Claire's post because I know how much she loves kittens and shops on ETSY and found a cute collar! It is so cute how much she cares about cats, and I know one day she will treat her students with the same passion !

Blair's blog made me giggle. Him naming it 23 happy things did not sound like him but after him explaining it I understand. His avatar does not look like him at all, but I do not see how anyone's could! They were very fun to make though!!
I loved this because the Expresso Gelato looked amazing! I love coffee and ice cream and it seemed like a great thing to comment on!

Thing 3
Using blogs in my future classroom could keep the students interested. It could be fun activities they could "post" about to one another on certain topics I choose. The only problem with that is if a child has no internet opportunity at his or her house, the classroom would have to have enough computers/ipads/laptops for each student to use. By doing it in class it would take up instruction time, but it could also be a way for the students to interact with one another through something as cool as "blogging." It would be a way for me as a teacher to see how the students are progressing in the subject activity rather than testing them all the time. I would love to have the opportunity to do fun things in my classroom like making them all an Avatar, the children would love that! I can not wait until I am in the classroom!
Thing 2
Creating my blog was very interesting. I have never had a blog, nor had I ever looked at one which made it fairly difficult. I sit beside a good friend Claire Albert which has had a blog before, so she helped me create it. I have a pretty background because Claire showed me how to get one. My posting name is just my name, Kenna Gupton and my blog name is just 23 Things* becasue that is what our blog is all about! Although I did not know what I was doing, it was fun to create it and share fun facts about myself so my classmates could see it as well. On the other hand the Avatar was easy and fun to make, but it does not look like me at all. It has blonde hair and blue eyes like I do but that is about it. My favorite color is pink, which is why she has a pink shirt on, and I love wearing blue jeans. I look forward to learning more about how to use a blog and technology, and hopefully one day this would be a fun activity to have my students do.
Thing 1
After watching the life long learner tutorial I learned interesting things even about myself which I have never thought of before. I tend to already be a lifelong learner becasue I do most of the seven and a half habits regularly. My favorite would be the accepting responsibility for your own learning habit, but also the play habit. I am still a big child at heart. I love reading, doing puzzles, and playing board and card games with my family. I have also learned growing up to accept your responsibility, it is one of the main "habits" my mom has always taught me.
Although I tend to do the habits regularly, one is quite a struggle for me. Viewing my problems as challenges. I am very hardworking, but if one thing goes wrong I tend to give up. As a future teacher this is something I need to work on tremendously, due to the fact problems will occur daily. As the tutorial said, we have faced many problems growing up and looking at them as challenges has currently brought me where I am today. It is just a rough spot in the road is how I need to look at it.
I look forward to doing these 23 things and learning more and more about myself and others in the process.
